PayPal announced on August 7, 2023 the launch of its US dollar-denominated stablecoin, the PYUSD. <\/span><\/p>

The PYUSD is 100% backed by U.S. dollar deposits, short-term Treasury Bills and other cash equivalents. It is issued by Paxos Trust Company \"(same issuer as BUSD and PAXG)\" and is redeemable 1:1 for U.S. dollars.<\/span><\/p>

The launch of PYUSD is an important step for PayPal in exploring blockchain and cryptocurrency technologies. The company has already begun testing PYUSD with a small group of customers and plans to make it available to all its customers in the United States by the end of the year.<\/span><\/p>
